Canceled check from May 3, 1904 drawn on the Gettysburg National Bank to pay Tillie Alleman $4.50.
Check is in very nice condition and is signed by Tillie twice on the reverse once as “TILLIE ALLEMAN” and the second time as “MRS. TILLIE P. ALLEMAN.” Reverse also bears several bank stampings.
Tillie Pierce Alleman is well known for her published account of her experiences during the battle of Gettysburg. Her book was published in 1889 but became very popular in the 1990’s and is still in print today. [ld]
