At Type IV Richmond Low Hump lock plate, recovered in the area known at “The Loop” near the Wheatfield and the Rose Farm. Measures approximate 1 3/8” from the top of the hump to the bottom of the plate. Alteration was the design of William Wentzel, starting around April 1862 throughout the war.

Pitting over entire lockplate and hammer, missing the mainspring; all other parts intact.  [ws]
