On June 30, 1863 during its approach march to Gettysburg, the Union 2nd Corps camped at Taneytown, Maryland. Over the years this camp has yielded many relics including the button offered here.

Face is in very nice condition with almost all of the original gilt remaining. There are no cracks or dents. Eagle with breast shield bearing the letter “A” for artillery is clearly visible.

Reverse is missing.  [ad]
