The full title of this volume is “THE THIRD NEW HAMPSHIRE AND ALL ABOUT IT”  by Daniel Eldredge, late captain of Company C edited and published by E. B. Stallings & Company, Boston, Massachusetts in 1893.

Book is hardbound with blue cloth covers decorated with two bayonetted rifles each resting on a 10th Corps Badge with a 24th Corps badge between them. The rifles are held together at the top by an infantry hunting horn with the tile at center and the authors name in a riband at bottom all done in gold ink. Title is also in gold on the spine. Covers are good with moderate edgewear, some rub marks and surface dirt. The third blank page in front is inscribed in period ink with “PRESENTED TO WM. C. WEST WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF THE AUTHORS SON. WM. D. ELDREDGE.”

Volume meas. approx. 6.75 x 9.50 inches and runs 1054 pages with index. Volume has several fold out maps and diagrams along with numerous photos of members of the regiment and several single page maps. Pages have yellowed some with age and the signatures are getting weak but none have split. Interior is clean and in good condition.

The 3rd New Hampshire served with the 10th and 24th Corps and saw action at Secessionville, Pocotaligo, Fort Wagner, Olustee, Drewry’s Bluff, Bermuda Hundred, Petersburg, Deep Bottom, Fort Harrison, Darbytown Road, Fort Fisher and Wilmington. The regiment lost 14 officers and 338 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease plus numerous others wounded but recovered.
