Virginia and Vicinity of Washington/ Compiled in Topographical Engineers Office of/ Division Head Quarters of General Irwin McDowell/ Arlington, VA, January 1st 1862.” 45 x 64 x 1”” fldg. map. Inner front cover inscription (lined): “Presented to (printed): Wesley F. Anderson/ Gloucester/ Camden Co., N.J. (in ink). A Wesley Anderson was found in the 1860 census residing in Union, Camden, NJ, Post Office Gloucester City. At the time he was 44 years old and a tobacconist by occupation. He was living with his wife and 6 children. No evidence of military service was found.
Black cloth covers, 5 x 8.5”, w/gilt cover lettering (no spine). Exhibits light tears at all fold-mark, while remaining entirely intact. May be unfolded with care. Map graphics sharp, but slightly yellowed. Fascinating collectible. [JP]
