WONDERFUL SIGNED COPY OF 116TH PENNSYLVANIA REGIMENTAL HISTORY

$135.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 34-83

The exterior of this book is in very good condition. Covers are clean with little wear. The red cloth retains much of its original color. There is some light scuffing on the spine and back cover as well as about 1.00 inch of cloth loss in the back seam of the spine. Embossed in gold across the front cover is “116TH PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEERS IN THE WAR OF THE REBELLION 1861-1865.” The gold lettering is near perfect. It is surrounded by a gold border with the name “MULHOLLAND” underneath. Spine is also stamped with the title and Author but the lettering is not as strong as that on the cover. The title runs 462 pages with roster but no index. Book is signed boldly in ink just inside the front cover with “ST. CLAIR A. MULHOLLAND 1903.” Fold out map is present and in good condition.  The interior of the book is very good. There is a newspaper clipping tucked in one page and this has caused a stain but other than that the interior is very clean.

The 116th Pennsylvania served throughout its service in the 1st Division of the 2nd Corps in the Army of the Potomac and was part of the famous “IRISH BRIGADE.”

St. Clair A. Mulholland, Colonel of the 116th PA, was wounded four times during the course of the war –

* 12/13/1862 Fredericksburg, VA

* 5/5/1864 Wilderness, VA

* 5/10/1864 Po River, VA

* 5/31/1864 Totopotomoy Creek, VA

He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at Chancellorsville on 5/3/64. On 3/13/65 he was brevetted Brigadier General and promoted to Major General, and was discharged on 3/30/65.
