The leather of this percussion cap box is in very good condition overall with some crazing. The outer flap shows light creases throughout and some minor surface finish loss, but the leather is strong and supple. There is an unreadable maker’s or inspector’s stamp on the right side of flap. The leather underneath has a smooth surface and is marked, “A USTICK”. The latch tab surface is similar to the flap surface. Tab is solid and not torn.
The inner flap is complete with both ears. Stitching is tight. There is a “B” marked on the inner flap.
The interior of the box has no remnants of the fleece lining. The pick is not present. The body of the box is strong and the brass finial is present at bottom.
The reverse is also good and has two complete belt loops which are held in place with copper rivets
