Spurs are American coin silver. Both are engraved with, “J. COOPER JR.” on the exterior and interior. Both are maker marked, “D C” on the inside and “S H” on the top (likely for Stephen Hardy of Boston, MA & Portsmouth, NH). Spurs measure 3 ½” long x 3 ½” wide.
CDV is a full standing view of Cooper. He is wearing a dark colored frock coat, trousers, vest, white shirt and cravat. Bottom of mount is signed in period ink, “JOHN COOPER JR. JULY 1861”. Reverse has a photographer’s imprint which reads, “PHOTOGRAPHED BY J. GOOD, COR. STATE & GREENE STS., ENTRANCE 36 GREENE, TRENTON, N.J.”. Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age. [sm]
