Item Code: 725-68

This is the standard color document that is often encountered. It has a large spread winged eagle at the top center with flags and a US shield flanked by a Naval and a land battle scene. The main text area is flanked by two pillars with laurel leaves wound around them with Corp Badges in between the rows. A sailor with drawn sword and a cavalryman about to mount his horse flank the pillars. The bottom center has a bust of President Abraham Lincoln flanked by an artilleryman and an infantryman. Both bottom corners have battle scenes. The main text area says that this memorial if for Robert Allison who served in the 122nd Pennsylvania Infantry for nine months and was engaged at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. He was discharged May 15, 1863. He enlisted a second time the following September in the Navy and was assigned to the USS Dawn as a 2nd Class Fireman and was assigned to the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron. In October of 1864 he re-enlisted in the Navy as a 1st Class Fireman and was finally discharged September 27, 1865. The memorial states at bottom that it was prepared in Mr. Allison’s honor by his widow and daughter.

The document meas. approx. 22.00 x 28.00 inches. The edges are in poor shape with numerous small tears and there are two tape repairs along the top edge and there are some light scattered creases but all the colors are strong and the lettering is readable. As it stands now it is paper-clipped to a stiff cardboard backing. If matted and framed the piece would look 100% better.
