8" x 10" matted display with several stands of the actual hair of Mary Surratt with a copy photograph of her, as well as a brief biography. Double matted on scarlet suede with Florentine gold trim. The strand is encased in a magnified box to enhance viewing.

Mary Surratt was tried and convicted as a conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and the attempt on Seward’s life. In spite of attempts to save her life she was hanged with three other conspirators on July 7, 1865.

This strand of hair originated from a small lock that came from Samuel Curtis, a guard at the prison, and found in his 1865 diary in a small envelope written in his hand. The provenance papers regarding this strand of hair are included with purchase, along with a certificate of authenticity. Some of Curtis’ diary entries, the envelope in his hand, and the total group of strands of her hare are shown Sold matted and shrink wrapped ready to frame.
