Steel and wood writing instrument with markings, “C.C. RING FORT MONROE JAN. 13, 1862”. This same side of pen has a sketch of a cannon and slash marks. Reverse side of pen is marked with, “C.C. RING” as well as a sketch of a shield and a sword.
Charles C. Ring was a resident of Lowell, MA and is listed as a 22 year old spinner. He enlisted as a Private on May 21, 1861 into the MASS 7th Light Artillery. He was eventually promoted to a Corporal and mustered out on May 20, 1864. Source- Historical Data Systems, Inc.
