The ½” x ½” section of leather in this display originally covered a chair in Robert E. Lee’s Chapel office at Washington College. This piece was part of a larger remnant that was given with the card shown at the top right of the display; the larger pieces were given to donors in support of the annual fund in behalf of Washington & Lee University several years ago. Lee served as President of the college from 1865 until his death in 1870. In honor of Lee, the college’s name was changed to Washington & Lee University.

Unframed display  measures 11" x 14", gray mat with red trim. Leather piece is displayed in a small magnified box and includes certificate of authenticity.
