Very nice brass ID disc that meas. approx. 1.00 inch across.
The obverse has a spread-winged eagle with shield on his chest surrounded by “WAR OF 1861” and “UNITED STATES.”
Reverse is punched with lettering that reads “A. H. DAVIS / CO.K, 6. / REG. / N.H.V. / NEW IPSWICH.”
Disc is in excellent condition.
Albert H. Davis was born in Ashby, Massachusetts on July 6, 1837. He enlisted as a Private in Company K, 6th New Hampshire Infantry on November 28, 1861. The regiment was assigned to the 9th Corps and was engaged at New Berne, 2nd Bull Run, Chantilly, Antietam and Fredericksburg. In the last named action Private Davis was killed in action. [ad]
