Owner ID inscription, front eps, in ink. 392 pp. In blue buckram, 3.75 x 5.75”, w/gilt spine lettering, above a handsomely embossed soldier. Exhibits three light chips, upper right spine. Else VG and handsome. Excellent collectible.

Period ink inscription reads, “J [?] A Barker / Co A 5th M. V. M.” Below in pencil in a different hand is, “Sargent Barker / from one, not yet / e___ an / Awkward S____der. / Dec. 68.” A second period ink inscription appears a few pages into the book: “JnoK [??] A. Barker / Co A. 5th Regt. M.V.M.”

No definite information discovered on Barker; further research may be more fruitful.   [JP/LD]
