George W. Pfeiffer was a soldier in Company B, 83rd Pennsylvania Infantry. This group consists of his framed Memorial and his discharge, his widow’s pension form, and a hand written obituary.
The Memorial is in an old decorative wood frame measuring approximately 20” wide x 30” tall. The print remains colorful and bright. All Union Army corps badges are shown and identified in small print. A black paper insert, resembling a chalk board, is mounted in the center and features a skillfully done, hand written narrative of Pfeiffer’s life and military service. Near the bottom of the left column is the following notation regarding Gettysburg, “Battle of Gettysburg, Pa., July 1-3. Repulsed repeated assaults on Little Round Top, and capture of Big Round Top, with prisoners and arms, July 2.”
Original documents are interesting. Pfeiffer’s discharge is heavily stained with ink.
A nice group from a famous regiment. [jet]
