Excavated, George Washington bust style brass “dog tag” for David L. Larkham. He was 37 years old when he enlisted on August 14, 1862. He joined Company G, 7TH Rhode Island Infantry. He was present with the regiment up to October 1863 when he was sick in the hospital. Larkham transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps in August of 1864 and was mustered out of service the following August.

Brass tag features a bust of Washington surrounded by stars and “UNION” on face. Dark brown patina overall with small traces of original gilt in crevices. Reverse has outlined fields where information was to be stamped. The full details on the back are “DAVID L. LARKHAM / CO. G. / 7 REG. R.I. / VOLUNTEERS / ENTERED SERVICE / AUG. 15 / 1862”.
