The top of the memorial is decorated with a representation of Columbia seated amongst a panoply of flags and surrounded by four Union soldiers, two on each side. Across the top of this scene are the words “SOLDIERS MEMORIAL” while at the center bottom is a spread winged eagle.

The edges of the piece show scenes from soldier life in camp and battle as well as on the home front. Across the bottom of the piece is a large battle scene flanked by an arch that lists the regiments battles from Cedar Mountain in August of 1862 through Gettysburg in July of 1863.

The center of the document is taken up by a roster of Company G, 94th New York Infantry which was part of the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, 1st Army Corps. The roster includes all members of the Company as well as a list of Field and Staff officers of the regiment with notations of service details.

The memorial is printed in black and white paper which has turned brown from age. The document itself meas. approx. 19.50 x 22.75 inches and was printed in April of 1864.

Item is in good condition overall but does have an area covering about a third of the bottom that has turned a darker brown then the rest. Bottom center has a 2.00-inch separation. The frame looks to be original but the backing is gone and has been replaced by cardboard and tape. The face of the frame also has numerous edge chips.

The 94th New York served in the 3rd Corps of Pope’s Army of Virginia and in the 1st and 5th Corps of the Army of the Potomac.
