Green and tan woven fabric is hand- sewn onto a small piece of card stock. Hand inscribed writing in period ink reads, “FROM THE REBEL STEVEN’S CHAIR, R. DAVIDS”. Fabric is triangular in shape. It measures 1 ¼” high by 1 ½” wide. Item comes in a small display box.

Alexander Hamilton Stephens (February 11, 1812 – March 4, 1883) served as the only Vice President of the Confederate States from 1861 to 1865, and later as the 50th Governor of Georgia from 1882 until his death in 1883. A member of the Democratic Party, Stephens represented the state of Georgia in the United States House of Representatives prior to becoming Governor.  [sl]
