By Brig. Gen. Silas Casey. Published by Van Nostrand, New York, 1862. Owner subscription, front eps, in ink: “Isaac Dyer/ Col. 15th Me. Vols.”. 279 pp., diagrams. In black blind-stamped buckram, 5.25 x 3.5,” w/gilt embossed spine lettering. Exhibits slight wear at the extremities. Else VG plus.
Isaac Dyer was commissioned Lieutenant Colonel into 15th Maine Infantry Field & Staff, 12/17/1861. He was promoted regimental Colonel 8/26/1862, and to Brevet Brigadier General, 3/13/1865. He was discharged 9/13/1865. His regiment, the 15th Maine, was initially dispatched to Louisiana and participated in the Red river Campaign and the Battle of Sabine Pass. Transferred east it was present at Bermuda One Hundred. During service it lost 5 men killed and 343 to disease for a total of 348.
Dyer died in Skowhegan in 1913 at the age of 92, and is buried there in North Cemetery.
