The reverse is blank except for collector information in pencil.

Orville Demming was born in Saratoga County, New York in 1845. He was 18 years old when he enlisted as a Private in Company F, 2nd New York Veteran Cavalry on July 25, 1863. He was discharged on September 9, 1863 before the regiment left the state. Muster rolls consulted online say he was discharged by order of a Major Wallace. No reason is given but it was most likely due to illness.
