CDV is of three slave children, a boy and two girls. The boy is seated at center and wears a dark coat while each girl wears a light colored dress. One girl is posed with her hand under her chin almost as if she was bored. The image is clear but the contrast is a little light. There is a water stain just below the girl on the right and another smaller one in the lower left corner. The bottom of the mount reads “REBECCA, CHARLEY & ROSA, SLAVE CHILDREN FROM NEW ORLEANS.” The reverse of the card has a photographers imprint for CHAS. PAXSON…NY. Also on reverse is the following

”No.4… THE NETT PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THESE PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE DEVOTED TO THE EDUCATION OF COLORED PEOPLE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF THE GULF, NOW UNDER THE COMMAND OF MAJ. GEN. BANKS.” There is also publication information dating the image to 1864.
