CDV is a full standing view of Walter F. Emerson. He is wearing a dark colored frock coat and light colored trousers. Bottom of mount is labeled with a handwritten inscription in period ink which reads, “WALTER F. EMERSON”.
The reverse has a photographer’s imprint which reads, “CROSS PHOTOGRAPHER, FT. RICHARDSON, VA.”.
Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age. Image has yellowed with time.
Walter F. Emerson was a resident of Lawrence, MA, where he worked as a machinist. He enlisted as a Private on August 12, 1864, at the age of 21, and was mustered into Co. “C”, 4th MA Heavy Artillery. He was mustered out on June 17, 1865 at Washington, D.C.
