CDV is a full seated view of Thomas Roberts. He is wearing a dark colored frock coat and light colored trousers.
The reverse has a photographer’s imprint which reads, “J.J. BOYNTON, CLINTON, MASS.”.
Image is clear and the contrast is good. Surface has some light dirt from age. Image has yellowed with time.
Thomas Roberts was a resident of Clinton, MA, where he worked as an operative. He enlisted as a Private on September 6, 1862, at the age of 28, and was mustered into Co. “I”, 53rd MA Infantry. He was killed in action on June 14, 1863 at Port Hudson, LA. [sh]
