Vignette bust view of Lieutenant John B. Geddis in uniform. Contrast is light. Image and mount are in good condition. Back has what looks to be a period pencil inscription that reads “JOHN B. GEDDIS 126TH NYV.” Photographers imprint is “J. W. MILLER, PITTSTON, PA.”

John B. Geddis enlisted at Canandaigua as a 1st Sergeant in Co. D, 126th New York on August 22, 1862. He was captured and paroled with the rest of his regiment at Harper’s Ferry on September 15, 1862. A little over 2 months later the 24 year old was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on November 27, 1862. He made 1st Lieutenant almost a year later on November 20, 1863 and Captain on March 29, 186. He was mustered out on June 3, 1865. Sometime after the war he moved to California where he was active in the GAR. He died in 1932 at the age of 94 and is buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.   [ad]
