Here are two CDV photos (circa 1880's) depicting Maggie Minott (born Mary Marjorie Minott in 1859) of Belle Plaine, Iowa, who performed with circuses across the world, including Ringling Brothers and P.T. Barnum. The one image is mounted in an album page. It shows Maggie and presumably her father, posed by a column. Hand inscription reads, "COUSIN MAGGIE MINOT, A DWARF 28in HIGH. HER FATHER WAS RING MASTER IN RINGLING BRO. SHOW". Image is clear with good contrast. Other image shows Maggie alone posed by a backdrop that shows a window. This image shows spotting and is a little fuzzy. In both images she is wearing a fashionable bustle dress and hairstyle.

Known as the Queen of the Midgets, she won the affection of royalty from other little people with whom she had worked. She passed away in 1908. Her obituary read, "Maggie Minot, one of the strangest and most remarkable midgets in the world, died at the home of her sister here to-day. She had won the esteemed friendship of Kings and Princesses. “Maggie," as she was known, was 48 years old. Her later years had been spent in retirement. To hundreds of midgets throughout the country the death of Maggie comes as a shock, for in midget society she was a reigning queen, and her opinions and sayings were quoted wherever little people exhibit. Maggie was born in Belle Plains, IA in 1859. She reached the height of 27 inches and then stopped growing. Until she was past 30 years old, she weighed only twenty-five pounds. At the time of her death she weighed thirty-one pounds. Her mental faculties were perfectly developed and in her travels around the world she acquired knowledge of three languages."  [sl]
