CDV is of an unidentified soldier seated in a wheelchair holding a large solid shot cannonball on the arm of his chair. The ball looks to be at least a 20-pounder.
The subject wears a dark shell jacket with shoulder scales and light trousers. Both his legs have been amputated below the knee. Despite his awful wounds the subject appears to have the hint of a smile on his face. He is posed in front of a painted backdrop of a lake scene. The contrast is excellent and the image is clear. There is some light surface dirt throughout and the upper left corner is bumped slightly.
Reverse is blank.
This is a rare image in good condition with great content.
