Set of hanging gold balance scales in painted tin case. Case is painted red, and on the top of lid is a decorative gold border on the edges with a spread-winged eagle in the center. Paint on case shows wear with some scratches and surface dirt. Inside of case is a small section with an attached lid meant for housing the weights. Case measures 5” x 2 ¼” x ¾” while closed.
Pans are made of brass and measure 1 ¾” in circumference. They are attached to a 5” brass balance bar by thin green cords. Pans hang approx. 5” from bar. The bar has a hook from which the scale could be suspended. Included are seven small brass weights. Patina on brass is semi-bright.
This is a wonderful piece of history complete in original case.
