By instrument maker H.G. Kern, Philadelphia. Two tier kit in mahogany box, 16.25 x 3” Trimmed with brass corners, inlay and center cover nameplate [blank]. Lined top and bottom in burgundy velvet. Upper panel tray includes the following gutta percha handled, “Kern” maker marked instruments: four knives and scalpels of varying blade length, ranging from 2.75 to 9.75”, and tenaculum. Also a bone file, forceps and metacarpal saw. Lower tier contains: capital saw, plier cutter, two trepanning devices (large and small), and tourniquet and strap., plus pocket compartment containing needles and thread, and two trocar catheters.  Missing bone brush and one forceps.

All instruments in new condition w/metal bright and clean. Velvet lining VG. Mahogany box exhibits light wear and minor dings. Key present, front lock unworkable. Overall condition VG & extremely attractive.  Fine CW medical display set.  [jp]
