Jar features a cobalt blue cartouche label surrounding the Latin medical name, “DIASCORDIUM“ in the center. This medicine was an opiate used against malignant fevers, the plague, worms, colic, to promote sleep, and resist putrefaction. In 1746, diascordium was offered in two forms: with or without opium. Jar and lid are free of cracks or chips.
