Iron bit for U.S. Cavalry of the Civil War period. Side “cheek” pieces have brass “US” medallions riveted in place. One side marked “ALLEGHENY / ARSENAL / 1864”. Complete with mouth piece, rings, and bottom cross bar. The size, “3” is stamped on the inside of the cheek piece.
Clean condition; semi-bright with patchy dark spotting. Solid and sturdy. [jet]
