This small sized Pattern 1839 oval “US” belt plate came from an estate sale in Westminster, Maryland which is approx. 23 miles southeast of Gettysburg. The face of the plate has a moderate patina with minor spots of discoloration.
The reverse has 100% of the lead fill with the tongue and double attachment hooks made of wire.
Very nice early plate.
