This brass Model 1851 NCO rectangular belt plate has a good spread-winged eagle with riband, stars and shield. It is not sharp but all details are visible. Applied silver oak wreath runs to the tip of the eagle’s wings. The silver of the wreath is mostly clear while the high points of the plate are light while the recesses are dark.
Reverse has the tongue and a bench mark number of “936.” With the plate is a brass keep that bears a different bench mark number and the remains of a leather belt.
Though this plate was meant for use by NCO’s many officers wore these as well.
