This heavy iron japanned black buckle was worn on the US Navy waistbelt which supported the Model 1860 cutlass.

Buckle meas. approx. 2.00 x 2.50 inches and still retains a bit of the leather belt which is held to the buckle by copper rivets.

Japanning is slightly worn with some surface rust showing through.  [ad]
