Classic style CS wood drum canteen fresh to the collecting community. Carved on one side are the original owner’s initials, “B.D.” and a backwards “N”. A handsome untouched attic canteen typical of the accoutrements carried by many Southern soldiers. This “Johnny” canteen is well constructed. Canteen appears to be made of cedar or cherry wood and measures 7 3/8” wide and 2 3/8” deep. Two circular iron bands approx. 3/8” wide encompass the outer edge. All three iron sling bars present. Sans the wooden spout, typical of this style canteen.
