This blue indigo, wool cloth artifact is a complete remnant of a kepi’s top crown that still exhibits its original brass crossed cannon insignia pinned to the cloth. The dark cloth is still a vibrant blue color but has a number of small moth holes and nips overall. Crown measures a 6” diameter and still has the artillery insignia affixed to the piece with all four brass loops intact. Underside of cloth crown has some light colored staining. An original but unusual artifact from a Federal artilleryman’s uniform kepi attire. [RA]
