Very nicely detailed stamped white metal gamecock meas. approx. 1.50 x 1.50 inches.

The bird has very detailed feathering on the chest and wing. The face is clearly defined with beak, eyes and neck feathers. Tail is well done with larger feathers on top of the smaller and the spurs on his feet are clearly seen.

The reverse of the insignia is hollow and has four prong attachments.

Besides being used by various political, fraternal and sports organizations the gamecock insignia was also worn by the 7^th Ohio Infantry. The bird adorns the reverse of that regiments monument on Culp’s Hill at Gettysburg.  [ad]
