A combination collection consisting of gold bullion and sequins embroidered eagle on a velvet background with a twisted brass wire border. This insignia device was originally mounted on the pattern 1858 Army hat and used to loop up the brim. This specimen and it accompanying gold bullion hat cord exhibits usage as there is wear and oxidation to both items. The reverse side of the hat insignia shows the cloth covered tin body and one of the two remaining mounting brass attachment loops.
