Brown color bridle leather with maker’s mark, “E. Metzger / Phila.” and large oval “H.H. Hartzell / U.S. / ORD. Dept. ‘ Sub Inspector”. Both stamps clearly visible.
Metzger had several contracts with the US government for infantry accoutrements.
Leather measures 1 ¼” wide, 47” long. Leather is very supple. Minor areas of crazing and scuff marks. All leather slides intact along with brass hook.
