Excellent condition brown leather rifle sling made for use on the M1861 and M1863 Springfield Rifle Musket and its contracts. Leather shows some light signs of age and use but is still soft and pliable with very light crazing in areas. One end has a sewn leather belt loop while the opposite end is sewn and riveted with brass hook for adjusting size. Still readable stamping of “WATERVLIET ARSENAL” appears just behind the sewn keeper and the inspector’s stamp, “BOYD US” is on the reverse of the opposite end. The name, “G AH HARTMAN” is scratched on interior. Sling has two sliding leather keepers. Some of the punched holes have stretched from use. All stitching is tight.   [sm]
