This complete waistbelt assembly is comprised of the pattern 1851 N.C.O eagle belt plate mounted on a blackened buff leather belt, as well as the sword hanger straps and hardware. Also present are the cap pouch and pistol ammunition box. The cap pouch is marked on the inner flap with the manufacture’s name: E. GAYLORD CHICOPEE MASS. and has two copper rivets located at the lower ends of the belt loops. The fleece lining and nipple pick once within this pouch is no longer present. The pistol ammunition box is missing the lower part of the closure tab and also has the two copper rivets located at the bottom of the belt loops. This example shows no signs of manufactures or inspector markings. Bench marking numbers located on the reverse sides of the waistbelt plate and its keeper are mismatching (Number 253 on the plate and 672 on the keeper). All leather belts, pouches and straps are in supple condition, with some minor crazing and losses to the surface of both the pouch and pistol box.
