This buff leather belt is in good condition. The exterior has been darkened to comply with the 1851 regulations while the inside has darkened from age and use. The belt shows a good amount of gentle wear and was no doubt used.
The plate is an oval Model 1839 “US” with arrow hooks and tongue on the back. The lead fill is smooth and 100% present. The face of the plate has darkened and discolored with age but is free from nicks and scratches.
Also attached to the belt is a brass keeper. This keeper also shows some light wear and has a mellow patina.
