This item is the standard issue US enlisted man’s waist belt on which hung his cap box and bayonet scabbard.
The leather belt meas. approx. 1.50 wide x 38.00 inches long. The leather is mostly supple with some minor stiffness. The surface has light crazing throughout. The overall condition of the belt would be considered good.
One end of the belt has seven holes for adjusting size. It appears that this end of the belt has been slightly trimmed. The opposite end has an oval Pattern 1839 US belt plate with arrow hook fasteners. The face of the plate has a nice medium patina over a surface that is relatively smooth. The reverse of the plate has 100% of the lead fill, both arrow hooks as mentioned and the tongue.
This is a nice solid example of the standard infantry waist belt.
