Maker marked belt. Stenciled on reverse is "Made By / John Baker / 63 Walker St. / New York". Consists of a white-dyed bridle leather shoulder sling , measuring 56" in length, 2.375" in width, with bayonet frog; a brass regimental plate, measuring 2.375 x 3.375", with numeral "7" [two inches in height] attached; and a broken scabbard fragment, 5.75"- throat with frog - sheathed within. Belt leather on obverse exhibits wrinkling & very slight cracking in spots, and color white is very lightly soiled. Reverse buff leather side display light soiling as well. Scabbard throat is solid and securely attached within sling. Brass plate exhibits light scratching, as does numeral "7". Else VG, and attractive. Excellent display piece for 7th New York aficionados.
