Original Civil War enlisted man’s waist belt made of bridle leather and meas. just under 2.00 inches wide. The leather surfaces show some wear with moderate finish loss and some light flaking. One end of the belt has the brass keeper while the other end has the Model 1839 oval US belt plate attached.
The plate has a nice clean face with a smooth even patina. The reverse has 100% of the lead fill, both arrow hooks and tongue.
Also attached to the belt is a very nice conditioned cap box. The outer surfaces are very smooth and clean. The face of the outer flap is marked with an Ordnance Department Sub-Inspectors stamp. The latch tab is good but does show some wear. The inner flap has both ears but is heavily crazed obliterating the maker’s mark. The interior of the box has the fleece and nipple pick. The interior leather match the outer flap being in nice condition. The reverse is also in nice shape and has both loops.
