UNISSUED MAKER MARKED CIVIL WAR ENLISTED MAN’S WAIST BELT

$395.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 172-3798

Belt is made of black bridle leather and is in good condition. The leather surface is clean and has only the slightest crazing. Mostly on the ends.

One end of the belt has unused holes and slits for attaching a belt plate while the other end has the brass keeper and four unused size-holes.

The end of the belt with the keeper has a sub-inspector’s mark that can only be partially read. The oval is clear as is “US ORD. DRPT. INSPECTOR” but the name at top cannot be made out. Below this is the maker’s name in an oval. It reads “H. G. HAEDRICH, PHILA, PA.”

The reverse side of the leather is natural color and has just some light surface dirt and discolorations consistent with age.

Henry G. Haedrich had Army contracts for infantry accoutrements in October of 1862, January, August and November of 1863, August of 1864 and January and February of 1865.
