Leather belt for cavalry use. The leather surfaces have been heavily treated and exhibit moderate loss of finish, but the leather is strong and supple with no weak spots. The shoulder support strap (Sam Brown belt) is missing as are both trails (hangers). All other brass hardware is present. The belt plate is the Model 1851 NCO plate with applied German silver wreath. The buckle is in very good condition. Both the plate and the keeper have a matching bench mark of 418. This is the later-war style featuring stitched and riveted connections. [jet]
