A Pattern 1852 Navy officer's belt. The belt is made of folded and stitched leather. Stitching on the leather solid and unbroken. The tongue and wreath belt plate is an excellent example of the early, U.S. Navy plate. The other brass components that are present and in good shape: "J" hook and adjuster buckle. The belt is in overall good condition; soft and pliable. The trails (hangers) have been cut off leaving only the lather "pad" and J-hook. There is a period repair to the belt end that is attached to the adjuster. [jet]
