Pattern 1851 officer’s plate features spread-winged eagle on the face with applied silver wreath. Keeper is present. Brass has mellow bronze patina. Plate and keeper have matching bench mark of 590. Brown leather belt is a post-Civil War sword belt. Trails have white metal swivel snaps. The front (short) trail has broken. The sword hook mounted to the belt loop of the short trail has an 1867 patent date on it. The belt is adjustable with one end having a brass hook which fits into punched holes for size adjustment.
