The Palmer brace system was recommended for adoption by the US Army but was short lived.
The leather belt was 1 13/16 inches wide and 43 inches long. Belt is made of bridle leather with a sewn brass keeper on one end.
Plate is based on the Model 1872 belt plate featuring a raised “US” surrounded by a raised oval and a raised external border. Plate was cast brass with a slight curve. What makes this plate different from the Model 1872 is the cast loops above each keeper for attaching the Palmer brace system.
The leather on this belt is worn with moderate surface finish loss but is supple. Brass hook for adjusting size has broken off. Plate is in excellent condition. [ad]
