Buff leather dyed brown on the outside to conform to the 1851 Regulations while the inside has been left white. Leather is in very good condition overall but it is a little worn on the exterior surfaces.
The frog for the M1832 Artillery Short Sword is present and is solid. Surface of the frog has suffered some finish loss but the sewn seams are tight. The frog is suspended from two brass “O” rings on the side of the belt.
One end of the belt has a brass buckle for adjusting size as well as two leather keepers.
The main buckle is the Pattern 1834 NCO belt plate which is made up of two round brass discs, one decorated with an eagle and the other with a “US.” These are joined by an “S” hook.
The interior surface of the belt has an inked name but it is too faint to read.
